Sunday March 13 2005:
The Western LP "A Year of Sincere was reviewed in the Winter '05
issue of FILTER magazine. They write "A band dead set on stirring
yearnings on beaches in California and on hills in Hollywood, L.A.'s
Western takes its name as gospel and the West Coast sprawl as a reference
point for soaring lazing pop rock. It's a classic setup , more typical
of decades past than the current one, unfortunately, and A Year of Sincere
hearkens back to an era in rock when pairing earnestness and catchiness
with coolness and intellect wasn't so startling. Nowadays, however that
sort of straightforwardness is an ambitions as anything else. In that
vein, Western's debut full-length is a refreshingly open breeze that
prolongs those most fleeting and feverish moments of love and urgency
too heartfelt (or sincere) to be approximated by any amount of eager
style.."

Frankie Palmer (s/t)
Frankie Palmer's first self titled solo album is an eclectic collection
of original acoustic songs recorded in his apartment in Los Angeles
CA. Frankie draws influences from American depression era traditional
songs to 70's folk singers such as Neil Young, Paul Simon
and Nick Drake. The record leads the listener through an altered state
of imagery and storytelling, created through multi-layered instrumentation
of lush dulcimers, guitar,
banjos, pedal steels and whispery vocals harmonies. Frankie originally
hails from the Northwest and is currently living in Los Angeles.
